Minutes <br />City Council <br />June 28, 1989 <br />Struntz <br />(cont.) <br />Liquor <br />Hours <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its <br />adoption. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 89-6-283 - INSTRUCTING JOHN PALACIO TO HAND <br />DELIVER A LETTER TO THE FAMILY VIDEO GALLERY ADVISING THEM TO <br />CEASE IMMEDIATELY WITH THE FLASHING LIGHTS, ATTACHING A COPY OF <br />ORDINANCE 903.110B2G AND TO INSTRUCT THE SHERIFF TO COMMENCE <br />TAGGING HIM AND TO TAKE OTHER LEGAL ACTION AGAINST THEM. <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Collova. <br />Ayes (4) <br />Nays (0) <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />License <br />Mr. Fahey renewed the new State liquor license allowing the <br />off -sale liquor stores to be open on the 4th of July and New <br />Years day. Tierney's and Bloom's Liquors are not in favor of <br />this ordinance. On a survey of other Cities it was two to two. <br />Mr. Ron Gerstad, MGM Liquors appeared before the Council . He <br />was of the opinion that the ordinance should be passed to be <br />fair to the stores that wished to be open. <br />Mr. Fahey indicated that we have had no request from the <br />on -sale liquor stores to be open until 1:00 a.m. on Monday <br />morning. Mrs. Scalze has no problem allowing what the State <br />law changes after this present holiday. Mr. Blesener mentioned <br />that it had to be published before being in effect. <br />Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its <br />adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 89 -6 -284 - TABLING THE OFF -SALE LIQUOR OPENING <br />ON JULY 4 AND JANUARY 1 FOR 90 DAYS UNTIL WE DETERMINE WHAT <br />HAPPENS WITH THE CITY OF ST. PAUL. <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Rick Collova. <br />Ayes (4) <br />Nays (0) <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />Facilities <br />Committee tor. Ray Hanson, Chairperson for the Facilities Committee <br />reported to the Council the actions taken by the Facilities <br />Committee. The present fire station is inadequate for housing <br />the fire equipment. The Committee made up of citizens at large <br />has taken tours of other fire halls. They have determined what <br />size building they would need and have checked out the <br />different sites available. The Committee is recommending to <br />the Council the Little Canada Road, Centerville Road site which <br />includes the McNamara, Weinholzer and t4ondor properties. <br />Page 63 <br />
