ORDINANCE NO. <br />AN ORDINANCE ADDING SECTION 305 TO THE <br />MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA, <br />RELATING TO ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS <br />AND INSPECTIONS. <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE CANADA HEREBY ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1 <br />Section 305 is hereby added to the Municipal Code of the <br />City of Little Canada and shall read as follows: <br />305. ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS <br />305.010. Application of Chapter. The provisions of this <br />Chapter shall apply to all electrical installations in any <br />construction, remodeling, replacement, or repair within or on <br />public and private buildings and premises, except as <br />specifically provided by this Chapter and by Minnesota <br />Statutes. The City of Little Canada elects to provide for <br />inspection of electrical installations within its jurisdiction <br />as authorized by Minnesota Statutes 326.244, Subd. 4. <br />305.020. Electrical Inspector - Qualifications and <br />Appointment. There is hereby created the office of Electrical <br />Inspector. The person chosen to fill the office of Electrical <br />Inspector shall be of good moral character, shall be possessed <br />of such executive ability as is requisite for the performance of <br />his duties, and shall hold a license as a master or journeyman <br />electrician under Minnesota Statutes, Section 326.242, Subd. 1 <br />or 2. The Inspector shall give a bond in the amount of <br />$1,000.00 conditioned upon the faithful performance of his or <br />her duties. The Electrical Inspector shall be appointed by the <br />City Council. The Electrical Inspector shall receive as <br />compensation, a sum equal to eighty (80 %) percent of electrical <br />permit fees. <br />305.030. Electrical Permits. No electrical installation <br />in any construction, remodeling, replacement or repair, except <br />minor repair work as defined in Chapter 3800.1100 of the <br />Minnesota Rules, shall be made without first securing a permit <br />therefor. <br />Permits shall be granted only to properly licensed <br />electrical contractors who are registered and bonded by the <br />State of Minnesota, except that such permit may be granted to a <br />bona fide owner of single family residential property, who <br />intends to conduct such work on his said property and who <br />occupies or intends to occupy said property, and further who <br />demonstrates to the satisfaction of the Electrical Inspector <br />that he has sufficient knowledge to perform the required work. <br />Page 3 <br />
