Office ol:
JOEL R. HANSON, Administrator
515 Little Canada Road
Llttle Canada, MN 55117
612.484.2177
FAX: 612484.4538
CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA
MAYOR
Mich l Faney
COUNCIL
Beverly Scale
B.11 Blesener
Rick Canova
Jim LaValle
MEMORANDUM
TO: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
FROM: John Palacio, Building Official
DATE: April 11, 1990
RE: Assignment - Development Procedures for Handling Code Violations
As a follow -up to the development procedures for handling violations
pertaining to the Municipal Code and in regards to clean -up, recently the
following questions arose:
1. What is going on with the junk cars and debris?
2. How could the City be more active in the line of enforcement?
3. Do we need more stringent language within the presently written
Municipal Code, such as abatement of violations?
In answer to Question No. 1, at the present time the "clean -up" matters
are underway. The new developments of construction projects have made a
great change, a new look to their area, and because of this, clean -up
matters were addressed in the order of complaints. One good example would
be the development of Centre Place's residential area. This new location
will need additional attention as to the junk and debris in the yards just
south of this project. These problems will be addressed in the
construction time frame presently underway.
In answer to Question No. 2, the City is in the process of using
correction notices. These types of correction notices are used to
identify applicable sections of the Municipal Code and zoning regulations
pertaining to the violations. A site inspection is conducted and a
written notice is mailed stating the time, place and date of the
inspection and including a time frame for corrective action. The end
result will be the Ramsey County Sheriff issuing violation tags after the
date stated on the correction notice.
Pane 11A
