Hanson, City Administrator FROM: Kathy Glanzer RE: Park Commission Meeting of May 17th MAYOR Michael Fahey COUNCIL Beverly Scalze Bill Biesener Rick Collove , Jim LeValle At their May 17th meeting, the Park Commission made the following recommendations for consideration by the Council on May 23rd: Recommendation to award the low bid of Buck Blacktop in the amount of $117,090.26 for Pioneer Park site improvements. The bid is well below the $145,000 budget for the project. Recommendation to call for bids for landscaping, banners and lighting improvements on Little Canada Road as proposed by the Park Consultant as part of the Celebrate MN program. 25% of the cost of this improvement will come from the Celebrate MN grant, with the remaining 75% from budgeted funds. Recommendation to call for bids for trail improvement between Greenbrier and Arcade Streets. Bill Sanders estimated the cost at between $10,000 and $15,000. No money was included in the 1990 budget for this improvement. Recommendation to approve the request of RVK Architect for additional architectural fees for the Pioneer Park building due to the City's increasing the value of the building and due to the reasonableness of the fees requested with the condition that the architect is required to perform construction observation without additional cost, and requesting the City Council to determine where the additional monies should come from. See attached correspondence. Recommendation for approval of the scraping and painting of the tennis court light poles in Spooner Park at an estimated cost of $387.00 with the money to be expended from the Park Fund since no money was budgeted for this in the maintenance portion of the budget.
