MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST Z5, 2004
2005 BUDGET Montour introduced the followine resolution and moved its adoption:
WORKSHOP v
RESOLUT7ONN0. 2004-8-795-CALLINGA WORK.SHOPFOR
YVEDNESDAY, SEPTE.YZI3ER 9, 2004 AT 6:30 P.[LI. TO REVIBW THE
PREI_TiYI7N<~1RY 200573UDGFT
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener.
Ayes (5) Montour, Blesener, Pahey, Anderson, LaValle.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
VALOR Fahey noted the staff reported relative to compliance with the approved
ENTERPRISES site plan for Valor Enterprises. Staff reports that while significant
progress has been made in complying with the plan, there is still not foil
compliance. Therefore, stall recommends that Valor's auto repair and
auto sales licenses not be renewed.
Lori Peterson, Valor Enterprises, described in detail the improvements that
have been made to the site. Peterson felt the main issue was the number of
vehicles on the site and the proportion of repairable cars to cars for sale.
The approved plan limits Valor Enterprises to 20 repairable cars and 30
cars for sale. Peterson indicated that in reducing the number of vehicles
on the site, Valor sold all of the saleable vehicles. The result is that there
are approximately 51 vehicles on the site, most of which are repairables.
Peterson indicated that Valor thought this would be acceptable to the City
and that they would not be held strictly to the 20 repairable vehicles and
30 cars for sale. Peterson indicated that it will take a matter of time to
repair the vehicles so some can be sold bringing the number of repairables
down to 20.
Blesener indicated that the proportion established by the City is very
important as the intent is to prevent Valor Enterprises from looking li]<e a
junkyard. Fahey asked how long it would take Valor to reduce the number
of repairables down to 20.
Peterson estimated that it would take 4 to 6 weeks to get the number down
to 40.
Blesener stated that he would be willing to increase the number of
repairables to 30 and reduce the number of vehicles for sale to 20.
Blesener also suggested giving Valor a 30-day extension for compliance.
Fahey stated that he did not a~_>ree with changing the proportion of cars
given that dre intention was to have the primary use as a vehicles sales lot
versus repair lot. However, he did a,ree with, ranting a time extension to
achieve compliance. ;=whey asked if Valor could achieve compliance in 30
ilayS.
1`
