Joel Hanson
March 29, 1990
Page 2
One of the problems that Moundsview is experiencing is an open
pumping problem from water run -off from the pile. The compost site
should be located in a well drained area as there cannot be any
infiltration to the surface water for contamination reasons. The
County does not want the water running off into low lands or wet
lands either.
At this point in time, the City does not have the manpower,
equipment, nor the area to open up a compost site for the residents.
The County does have areas which are right on the borderline of
Little Canada over in Maplewood where people can take their yard
waste and the haulers are now required to haul yard waste to a
special area in Woodbury.
DBH:kpv
PAGE 83
