Office of:
JOEL R. RANSON, Administrator
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117
512-484-2177
FAX: 612.484.4538
March 23, 1990
CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel R. Hanson, City Administrator
RE: Use of Fill from Country Drive
MAYOR
Michael Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalia
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim LaVelle
With the pending improvement of Country Drive comes the need to
relocate about 8,000 to 9,000 cubic yards of fill. I have been
informed by our engineering staff that the material to be excavated
is primarily granular in nature.
To maximize the benefit of this material, we have been attempting to
locate potential uses for this fill. (Our MSA project will pay for
the majority of the costs of moving this material as long as we
designate one site within a reasonable distance and it is under
public control.)
To date, three potential uses have been identified:
*Fire Station Site;
*Twin Lake Trail Berm;
*Pioneer Park (1,000 yards that needs to be stored at
another location).
I have asked the architects to determine how much fill is needed at
the fire station site. They are also evaluating the quality of the
materials coming from Country Drive and the issues of timing,
stockpiling and erosion control.
If other uses exist or if you feel certain areas deserve priority
over others, I will need direction at Wednesday's meeting.
PAGE 123
