MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />March 8, 1990 <br />Pelstring reported that TIF has been used extensively . <br />by surrounding communities, and agreed that TIF does <br />result in competition between communities for <br />development. <br />REZONING The City Planner suggested that as a housekeeping item <br />PIONEER PARK the Planning Commission recommend that the City Council <br />formally rezone the Pioneer Park property from I -P <br />District to Public. <br />Pedersen recommended that the City Council rezone the <br />Pioneer Park property from I -P District to Public. <br />Motion seconded by DeLonais. <br />Motion carried 7 - 0. <br />SIGN The City Planner reported that the Council has asked <br />ORDINANCE the Commission to review the Sign Ordinance as it <br />addresses free - standing signs for shopping centers <br />having multiple buildings. <br />DeLonais stated that he was concerned that every few <br />months the City is reviewing the Sign Ordinance. <br />DeLonais reported that he has looked at the signage at <br />shopping centers in the surrounding area and finds that <br />the majority of centers have only one pylon. DeLonais <br />felt that the tenant signage on the front of shopping <br />centers identified individual business well. DeLonais <br />stated that he would support an amendment limiting <br />shopping centers to one pylon per center, or one pylon <br />for every so many feet of frontage. <br />Due to the lateness of the meeting, the Commission <br />decided to postpone discussion of this item until their <br />April meeting. <br />Herkenhoff recommended that review of the Sign <br />Ordinance as regards free - standing signs for shopping <br />centers having mulitple buildings be tabled until the <br />April meeting. <br />Motion seconded by Pedersen. <br />Motion carried 7 - 0. <br />Page 21 <br />
