Office of:
JOEL R. HANSON, Administrator
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117
612-484-2177
FAX: 612-484-4538
February 9, 1990
CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel R. Hanson, City Administrator
RE: Booster Station Property - Sale Consideration
MAYOR
Michael Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scaize
Bill Blesener
Rick Collove
Jim LaValie
Mr. Ed Grieman has asked about the City's interest in selling
approximately one acre of our booster station site. Pursuant to my
previous comments to you, we have continued our evaluation of this
request.
Attached are three maps. The first shows the dimensions of the
booster station site in relation to the Grieman property. The second
indicates the potential future layout of the booster station site.
The third shows a potential split of the booster site that allows us
to maintain our piping while still selling one acre without the
possibility of reservoir storage.
Issues the Council will have to consider are:
*Is reservoir storage a realistic, future use of the property?
*Does the City have other uses for the property?
*Does the City want to sell the property? If so, at what
price? ($20,000 has been offered.)
I'm also enclosing some excerpts from the League of Minnesota Cities'
Handbook for Cities relative to the sale of property by a
municipality. I've also asked our legal counsel to review the issue
of sale of property by a City for Wednesday's meeting.
The Council will need to give us direction on this matter.
Pa g e,,,,, ,,
