MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
February 8, 1990
involved in determining the sale price of the land, but
is involved in determining whether the project if
financially feasible from a TIF standpoint. The
Administrator reported that Business Development
Services and the bonding company's underwriters also
review the financial feasibility of TIF projects.
OTHER Drabik stated that she did not believe it was the
BUSINESS intention of the younger members of the Commission to
take the Commission over. Drabik stated that she would
like to see the older and newer members of the
Commission get together and do what is best for the
City. Drabik pointed out that younger members with
young families might have a different perspective on
things than those members whose children raised and
gone.
Costa was concerned that the City's spending has gotten
out -of -hand, and stated that there needs to be some
spending constraints in place so that taxes do not get
totally out -of -hand.
Drabik pointed out that the members of the Commission
have a responsibility, other than as Commission
members, to make their feelings known to the Council.
Bendel stated that differences of opinion are what make
the world go around, and hopefully, the decisions made
by the Commission are a result of a thoughtful
decision. Bendel did not feel that politics were a
part of the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson election
at the last meeting, but a result of reaching a point
where a modest change of guard had to take place.
Bendel felt the tremendous value and experience of the
older members of the Commission joined with the new
ideas of the younger members would result in the best
of both worlds.
ADJOURN There being no further business, the meeting was
adjourned at 9:20 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathy G nzer
Recording Secretary
Page 17
