REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS The City of Little Canada intends to engage a consulting engineering firm to perform municipal engineering services for our community. The City has previously retained the services of Milner Carley Engineering in this capacity until the retirement of Don Carley, P.E. in early 1990. (It should be known that Mr. Carley has expressed his willingness to facilitate a smooth transition with the firm we select. He will forward all City records in his possession in addition to offering his insight on past and pending City projects.) To initiate this process, we have selected your firm as one of a total of 15 companies from which we are interested in receiving a proposal for services. Screening of the proposals will be done by our selection committee consisting of the Mayor, a Council Member, the Director of Public Works, and the City Administrator. From the firms which submit proposals, we will choose three of them to be interviewed by the entire City Council. We envision the completion of the entire selection process within the next month. City Characteristics: The City of Little Canada has the following characteristics: Population 9,100 Area 4.34 square miles (2,778 acres) 90% developed Streets Water System Sanitary Sewer 11.46 miles County roads 21.32 miles City streets *Above figures include 5.10 miles of MSA streets 1,512 connections 1,500,000 gallon elevated storage tank 1 booster station (2 pumps) Water supplied by City of St. Paul 1,932 connections 7 lift stations MWCC provides collection and treatment Ongoing Projects: The City currently has three projects pending which will become the responsibility of the firm selected. The projects with a short description are as follows: Payne Avenue - Street overlay /reconstruction. Contract price = $90,000 (Shafer Contracting) to be completed by 6/30/90. Page 31
