NORTHWEST ASSOCIATED CONSULTANTS, INC.
4800 Olson Memorial Highway, Suite 202, Golden Valley, MN 55422
Telephone: 763.231.2555 Facsimile: 783.231.2561 plan ners(anacpla nning.com
MEMORANDUM
TO: Little Canada Planning Commission
FROM: Stephen Grittman
DATE: July 7, 2006
RE: Little Canada -Driveway Surfacing
FILE NO: 758.10 - 06.03
Attached is a draft ordinance amending the parking section of the zoning regulations
creating a requirement for paving of all driveways being constructed as a part of new
home and/or garage construction, and where other zoning permits are necessary, such
as conditional use permits and/or variances. The ordinance also creates a requirement
for a permit. This ordinance would only apply to new construction, and would not come
into play for existing home remodels or expansions, except when those expansions
require a CUP. The most common condition for this requirement would be when an
existing homeowner is seeking a CUP for a second or oversized garage. A different
threshold could be established, such as ANY new driveway paving project, if desired.
The threshold issue should be discussed as a part of the ordinance review.
Pc: Kathy Glanzer
Steve VVesterhaus
Lee Elfering

,iUl~ ~ i? 700G
