MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JULY 10, 2013
KURT FRISON
The Council indicated that they would support bringing in utilities to the
site in conjunction with the Little Canada Road project. However, they
would not proceed with the warming house project at this time.
Blesener suggested that perhaps the City should bid the project at this time
to see what the costs come in at. The Director noted that if the project did
not proceed, there would be additional architect costs to rebid in the
future. The Administrator suggested that if the City bid the project with
no intention of proceeding, this may alienate contractors. He also noted
that after the first of the year the City regains tax exempt status on direct
materials purchases which would result in a cost savings for the project.
Based on the discussion this evening, the Administrator indicated that City
staff would pursue the following: additional funding sources; project
modifications to reduce costs; and /or budget adjustments.
Keis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2013 -7 -127 — AUTHORIZING THE
INSTALLATION OF UTILITIES TO THE FIRE BARNS WARMING
HOUSE SITE IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE LITTLE CANADA
ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Boss.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
The City Administrator reported that Kurt Frison is resigning his
employment with the City in order to take a full -time fire fighter position
with the City of Vadnais Heights. The Administrator reported that Frison
has been an excellent employee for the City and wished him well in his
new opportunity. The Administrator reported that the City would be
advertising for a replacement in the Public Works Department.
ADJOURN There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:10 a.m.
Attes
Hanson, City Administrator
12
