The fire hall is used primarily for the kitchen, and we also hold some inside games for the kids in the basement. In cases of inclement weather, it is also used as an additional warming house. If the old fire hall were not available food would have to be prepared off -site and hauled to the warming house area (a difficult thing to do in February). In cases of extremely cold weather, we would have no choice but to cancel the event. COACHES APPRECIATION PARTY - Once a year in August we have a get - together for all of the City's volunteer coaches. Usually this event is held at Spooner Park, but in cases of inclement weather we have moved it to the fire hall. Due to the space required (125 -150 people) neither other location would suffice. STORAGE - We currently store all of our fundraising equipment and non - perishable food at the fire station. This requires about 500 cu. ft. I'm not sure if there will be a heated area at either new location that would be available to us. In addition, we have put a substantial amount of money into the old fire hall in the form of a ventillation system and storage area. Obviously if the building were sold, this investment would be lost. In summary, as you can see we do rely quite heavily on the con- tinued use of this building. Ultimately all of the funds we raise are used to supplement the City budget, therefore every resident for the City benefits indirectly from our use of the hall.
