Office of:
JOEL R. HANSON, Administrator
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117
612- 484 -2177
FAX: 612- 484 -4538
CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA
MEMORANDUM
TO: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
FROM: Jim Morelan, Parks and Recreation Director
DATE: October 8, 1990
RE: Potential Uses and /or Sale of the Old Little Canada
Fire Hall
Potential uses by the Parks and Recreation Department:
1. Storage of uniforms and athletic equipment. We
currently are in need of more room and have been
for as long as I can remember. Some of the
equipment presently stored in the basement would
be better stored in the upstairs of the Fire
Hall, where the humidity is lower.
2. The Recreation Department is in need of a place
where coaches can bring their teams together for
video training presentations and classroom "Chalk
Talks ". Council room is too formal for this
purpose.
3. The Recreation Department is also in need of a
place where coaches can have post- season parties
and banquets for their teams and parents. Food
and beverages are involved, and a non - carpeted
area is necessary. The Fire Department basement
and kitchen has been used for this in the past.
4. The skating rink behind the Fire Hall has always
had insufficient parking. Users must walk up and
down the steep driveway from Little Canada Road.
Parking behind the Fire Station would
significantly help this situation.
Page 4
MAYOR
Michael Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scaize
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim LaVaile
