Office of:
JOEL R. HANSON, Administrator
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117
612-484-2177
FAX: 612.464 -4538
October 5, 1990
CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel R. Hanson, City Administrator
RE: Sheriff's Dept. Recommendations Regarding Traffic Control
MAYOR
Michael Fahey
.COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim LaValle
Pursuant to our meeting with representatives of the Ramsey County
Sheriff's Department and Mingles, the Sheriff's Department
recommended the City consider the following policy changes:
a. Revision to our Traffic Ordinance Section #401.010 which
would effectively allow the Sheriff's Department to patrol
within private parking lots and issue citations. The Sheriff's
Department is recommending the addition of the language "and
other portions of the City available for vehicular traffic"
after the word "alleys" in the first sentence of that Section.
This would assist in crowd control in parking lots at area
business establishments.
b. The second recommendation was that the City consider restricting
parking along Little Canada Road from Rice Street to the Soo Line
tracks. Staff will evaluate this prior to Wednesday's meeting
and develop a recommendation for presentation that evening.
Ps .55
