As an alternative-for -the- placement of the water main, the -water main could be <br />'floated" across the peat material by using ductile iron ball joint pipe atop <br />12 inches of lightwieght aggregate bedding wrapped in filter fabric. There is <br />a significant cost savings in placing the pipe in this manner, but there is <br />also some risk that the pipe could settle and a break occur.
