PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO DEPARTMENT POLICY 585,00 THEFT <br />585.02 F. Gas Station Drive- Offs. <br />1. If loss arnount is less than $20.00, no report <br />will be written. If the clerk has specific <br />vehicle or suspect identification, the deputy <br />will give the clerk the vehicle registration <br />information for the businesses own follow -up. <br />No report will be taken. <br />2. If the loss arnount is more than $20.00, and <br />the clerk has specific vehicle identification <br />via License number and it matches with the <br />registration, a report will be written. If <br />no license number is available or the number <br />given does not match with the registration <br />description, no report will be taken, unless <br />the clerk knows by name the suspect and where <br />he /she can be contacted. <br />3. On those cases where the clerk does have the <br />vehicle license number and description <br />of the vehicle, they roust beable to provide <br />identification of the driver. This includes, <br />ethnic grouping, sex, height, weight, hair <br />color, clothing descriptions. If they are <br />unable to give a significant description of <br />the driver /suspect, no report will be <br />written, regardless of the presence of the <br />vehicle registration. In these cases, the <br />deputy will give the clerk the registration <br />information for the businesse's own follow - <br />up. <br />4. On those cases where reports are required, <br />The reporting deputy shall do the appropriate <br />investigative follow -up to establish the <br />suspect /driver of the vehicle and issue <br />appropriate citations. <br />Page 27 <br />
