Special considerations when no report <br />will be taken: <br />a, if the Deputy establishes that partial <br />payment for a bad debt has been <br />accepted by the victim, no report will <br />be taken as it is a civil case. <br />b. If the Victim has sent the check to a <br />collection agency prior to attempting <br />to file a report, no report will be <br />taken as it is a civil case. However, <br />victims should be notified that if they <br />1st seek prosecution, they may also <br />seek recovery of loss via civil means. <br />c. If the check is marked "STOPPED <br />PAYMENT ", the Deputy will investigate <br />the facts surrounding the check, the <br />service purchased, the contract price, <br />etc. If it becomes apparent that the <br />matter is a misunderstanding of the <br />terms of the purchase or service <br />contract and is clearly civil, and no <br />criminal intent is present, the <br />complaintant will be advised of <br />Conciliation Court or <br />Collection Agencies alternatives. No <br />report is required in this case. <br />d. Checks received by mail, or that were <br />placed in a drop box, no report will <br />be taken. <br />e. Rent /Security Deposit checks will not <br />be accepted. <br />f. Checks drawn on out -of -state banks will <br />not be taken. <br />g. <br />Any checks that are payment for the <br />purchase of any lawful gambling <br />equipment or for the chance to <br />participate in lawful gambling will not <br />be accepted. <br />Page 33 <br />
