4. The check, certified letter return <br />receipt, or affidavit of service will be <br />attached to the investigation copy of the <br />report. <br />5. If any of the above General or Specific <br />requirements are not met, The Deputy will <br />not take the report. <br />a. If a General Requirement is found <br />lacking, The Deputy will advise the <br />victims of alternative remedies to <br />prosecution, for example, Conciliation <br />Court, Collection Agencies, etc. <br />b. If a Specific Requirement is found <br />lacking, The Deputy will advise the <br />victim to gather the appropriate <br />information prior to taking the report. <br />E. Forged /stolen Documents <br />1. This includes checks, money orders, <br />travelers checks, credit cards, <br />prescriptions and any other documents. <br />2. A Worthless Document report will be <br />completed immediately. There is no <br />requirement for notification by mail. <br />3. The Forged /Stolen Document should be <br />handled as little as possible. The <br />document should be sealed in an envelope <br />with an evidence tag attached and place in <br />a property locker for additional <br />processing by the General Investigative <br />Unit. <br />F. If a victim refuses to give the Deputy the <br />above documentation or original check, no <br />report will be taken. Victims should be <br />notified that evidence can and will eventually <br />be returned to them. <br />G Victims must be willing to make required court <br />appearances. Any refusal to do so, will <br />preclude future prosecution of their check <br />cases. <br />Page 34 <br />
