Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117
Dear Council Members:
As I am unable to attend the next Council Meeting, I am
writing this letter to express my concern about the hauling
of fill dirt on Savage Lane in preparation for a new home
to be constructed at the end of the street.
We have lived on this street for the past 37 years and have
seen the street rebuilt and repaired many times. I know
that under the road there is clay and when the clay is wet
and soft and heavy loads are carried over it the clay is
pumped up so it mixes with the gravel road base and comes
to the surface. The road is then broken up.
Due to the fact that the road acts as the only drainage
there is, and the large amount of rain we have had this
spring, I feel the clay under the road is too web'and soft
to carry heavy loads at this time. There is standing water
next to the road now and even a lawn mower sinks in next
to the road.
I strongly urge the City Council to take the proper pre-
cautions necessary to preserve the road, and if the City
should approve the hauling of fill dirt at this time, the
City should also assume the cost of repairing the street
and not assess the property owners as has happened in the
past.
Very truly yours,
Carl G.
