Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim LaValle
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Pursuant to the request for proposals we submitted to a number of
developers, three responses were received. They are from Stuart
Corporation, Presbyterian Homes of Minnesota, and Walker Methodist,
Inc.
A review of these proposals should now be undertaken. I will be
discussing this matter with Mayor Hanson prior to Wednesday's meeting
in an attempt to formulate a strategy for conducting these reviews.
It is my assumption that Mayor Hanson will designate a committee to
undertake this process which should be ratified by the Council.
It is also my understanding that we will be recommended for the
receipt of $120,000 in community development block grant funds from
Ramsey County. While we applied for $250,000, competition for funds
was keen and their availability was limited. I would consider the
receipt of $120,000 as a successful application. These funds would
be used to assist in land acquisition for the project should it
proceed. They should also lessen the need for tax increment
financing assistance depending on the parameters we use in
determining project amenities and subsidies.
If you have any comments or questions regarding this matter before
Wednesday's meeting, please let me know.
Page" 116
