Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim LaValle
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Pursuant to the grant we obtained from Ramsey County for
expansion of our recycling program, we have advertised for
a recycling intern. Thirty -three applications were
received. Interviews were conducted this past Wednesday
with nine of the applicants. Based on these interviews and
the other information received, we are now reference
checking the top two candidates.
The primary responsibility of the intern will be to
evaluate our organized collection program to develop any
recommendations that may be useful when the contracts come
up for renewal in the future. Another key responsibility
will be to promote the expansion of the recycling program
with single family, multiple family, and commercial refuse
customers. Hopefully, we will be able to take a more
proactive approach to this process thereby keeping us ahead
of any other mandates or goals imposed upon us. The
ultimate result should be the reduction in the amount of
materials entering the landfill stream.
I will have a recommendation available for Wednesday's
meeting as to which candidate I feel should be hired.
Should you have any comments or questions regarding this
matter, please let me know.
JRH:kpv
Page 58
