ci5• 1 9W Ceiryda
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600 ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MAYOR
Raymond G. Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim LaValle
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Hanson and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: August 9, 1991
RE: Warming House Project
A meeting has been held between Jim Beckwith of
Kraus - Anderson, Dick Krumm of RVK Architects, Jim Morelan
and myself to discuss the warming house project at
Roseville Area Middle School. Using a value engineering
approach, the following issues were identified as potential
areas where savings could be generated to the construction
project. They are as follows:
* Delete interior frost footings due to consistency
in heating pattern in building.
* Utilize 16 instead of 18 gauge door frame (keep
door itself at 16 gauge).
* A petition between skater warming area and storage
area, use 6" versus 8" block. One could also
consider shortening the wall height.
* Use of hollow metal frames in office area versus
frame /fabricated system.
* Use of standard frames for hollow metal work
rather than full thickness frames.
* Evaluate alternative methods for bench support
system. This would consider welding versus stud
connection.
* Attempt to re -use existing electrical service
components from existing building.
'e "'8 3
