Mayor Hanson and Members of the City Council
August 9, 1991
Page 2
* Eliminate some electrical switching and duplicate
wiring.
* Evaluate the availability of NSP gas service to
this facility and the costs associated with same.
Based on this information, determine if gas.or
electric heat provides the least expensive
alternative when items such as operation costs,
maintenance issues, vandalism, and mechanical
needs are considered.
* Utilize shingled roof system instead of metal
system. This would also allow us to narrow up the
facia area.
These items are being evaluated by the architect and plans
will be revised according to those that warrant further
attention. He agreed with the Construction Manager that
these items did merit further investigation.
In order to complete the project in time for this year's
skating season, it is my recommendation that we authorize
an advertisement for bids on this facility with an expected
bid date of September 5, 1991. Any comments or questions
you may have regarding this matter can be directed to Jim
Morelan or myself.
JRH:kpv
cc: Dick Krumm, RVK Architects
John Palacio, Building Official
Jim Morelan, Parks & Recreation Director
Page 84
