MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
JULY 11, 1991
CONDITIONAL
USE PERMIT
& VARIANCE
UNO -VEN CO.
Garske stated that he was not bothered with a 4 foot
height for the fence. A 6 foot height may not be very
pleasing aesthetically, however, Garske felt that
neither was the side of a mini - storage building.
Drabik pointed out the 120 foot length proposed along
County Road B.
The City Planner suggested that the fence could be made
to jog in and out to break up the appearance of a long,
straight fence line.
Garske suggested approval subject to someone working
with Mr. Marche to improve the aesthetics of the fence.
Marche stated that he would be willing to jog the fence
in and out rather than limiting the height to 4 feet.
Garske recommended the approval of conditional use
permit for special use fence for Mr. Ralph Marche, 43
East County Road B subject to the recommendations of
the City Planner as contained in his report dated June
27, 1991 and subject to the City Planner and Building
Inspector working together with Mr. Marche to improve
the aesthetics of the fence by either reversing panels,
indenting or jogging fence sections rather than having
a straight 120 foot length of fence, with a fence plan
to be submitted to the City Council for their review.
Motion seconded by Drabik.
Motion carried 5 - 1. DeLonais voted against.
Mr. Don Egerer, representing Uno -Ven Company, appeared
before the Commission requesting approval of a
conditional use permit and front yard setback variance
for construction of a 56 foot by 60 foot steel canopy
over fueling islands at 300 Little Canada Road. Egerer
explained that the existing pumping islands would be
replaced with 4 new islands under a new configuration
and a canopy would be constructed over the pumping
islands.
The City Planner reviewed his report and pointed out
that while the turning radius around the islands is
tight, it appears it will work.
Egerer reported that the canopy fascia will not be
illuminated, therefore, there will be no spill of light
from the canopy into the intersection. Lighting will
come from underneath the canopy and will go straight
down.
Page 4
