CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br />POSITION RESPONSIBILITY WRITE -UP <br />Date <br />November, 1989. <br />Position Title <br />Director of Parks and Recreation. <br />Accountable to <br />City Manager <br />Primary Objective of Position <br />To plan, supervise, and administer overall quality park and recrea- <br />tional programs which will provide and facilitate worthwhile <br />facilities and leisure time activities for the enjoyment of all <br />citizens. <br />Major Areas of Accountability <br />Directs the development of Park and Recreational programs and <br />facilities for all the citizens of the community which will meet <br />their needs, and provide the opportunity for constructive use of <br />leisure time. <br />1 <br />Evaluates, on a continuing basis, recreational programs, facil- 2 <br />ities, maintenance activities, and safety conditions and programs <br />as a basis for making changes as necessary to assure programs, <br />facilities, etc., are attaining the expected results. <br />Directs `the'debelopment"of'Tbng =range plates of "park'arid recre'a- 3 <br />tional facilities to ensure maximum utilization of land, buildings, <br />and monies set aside for recreational use. <br />Coordinates Roseville planning with recreational programs of School 4 <br />District, Ramsey County, and other agencies, and provides leader- <br />ship in assuring no duplication of programs and services. <br />Recruits, trains, and supervises a capable staff which can effec- <br />tively develop and implement the Park and Recreational programs. <br />Supervises the development and maintenance of a program of public 6 <br />information which will keep the public informed of the recreational <br />facilities and activities available to them. <br />Develops and maintains a program of community relations to assure 7 <br />a good image for the department and the city, including advice to <br />various civic clubs and organizations to help with coordination of <br />community projects. <br />Provides information and advice to the Park and Recreation Commis- 8 <br />sion to assist the Board in providing recommendations concerning <br />park and recreational programs to the City Council. <br />Supervises the maintenance of parks and recreational facilities <br />to ensure attractive, safe surroundings and maximum service at <br />the most reasonable cost. <br />Page 42 <br />9 <br />
