2(2'14 CeaNC71/17
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484-2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Hanson and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: February 8, 1991
RE: Office Equipment /Telephone Purchases
MAYOR
Raymond G. Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim LaValle
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
With the remodeling of the City Hall nearing completion, we
must plan for the purchase of a new telephone system and
office equipment to be coordinated with the availability of
the new space. Our present phone system is not capable of
being expanded to meet the needs of the new office.
Furthermore, its technologies do not lend themselves well
to an efficient functioning office.
We have done a thorough review of this issue and will be
prepared to make a final recommendation at Wednesday's
Council meeting. At this point in time, we would expect
the phone system for the City Hall to be at a cost of
approximately $7,500 or less including installation and
cabling. The Fire Department also will need a phone system
and the total cost should be around $3,100. It should also
be noted that we have done a thorough review of many
possible options including used equipment, relocation of
present equipment in City Hall to the Fire Station, off
premises extentions, and new equipment. Our recommendation
will be based on the most appropriate equipment given cost
and serviceability.
The other major equipment purchase we need to address at
this time relates to the modular office system for the new
clerical area. Attached is a diagram showing a proposed
layout. Please keep in mind that we have not finalized all
of the furnishings shown here, but this is the general
layout we are favoring. We expect the cost for the modular
office system and related equipment to be in the range of
$15,000 to $20,000. Final quotes will be available for
23
