This latest version of the plat shows Costa
Lane forming a U- shaped street, both ends accessing DeSoto
Street. The following is a review of the City Council's action
on this project:
August 22 Meeting
The initial proposal was denied because no agreement had been
made as to how Noel Drive (Costa Lane) was to hook up with Allen
and LaBore.
September 26 Meeting
The Council approved the preliminary plat which showed Costa Lane
connecting with DeSoto on the south and with Allen Avenue to the
north. Contingencies included: 1) finalizing issue of obtaining
additional right -of -way width for extension to Allen Avenue, 2)
Park Commission comments, 3) acquisition of necessary DeSoto
Avenue, and 4) City Engineer approval.
October 24 Meeting
The Council tabled action on the revised plat which showed Costa
Lane connecting east to Vanderbie and west to DeSoto. The
Council strongly feels that the best road set up is to have Costa
Lane connect with Allen Avenue rather than having cross streets.
Since right -of -way acquisition appears much more possible than
before, the City is willing to initiate condemnation proceedings
to acquire the right -of -way for Costa Lane.
4601 Excelsior Blvd. • Suite 410 • Minneapolis, MN 55416 • (612) 925 -9420 • Fax 925 -2721
Page 15
