Hanson
TO: Members of the Planning Commission
FROM: Kathy Glanzer, Administrative Assistant
RE: Recording Requirements for Plats and Property Divisions
Currently City Code requires the recording of plats and property
divisions with the Ramsey County Recorder within 100 days of approval
by the City Council. Due to processing requirements, which include
City Engineer and City Attorney review, it is very difficult for
property owners to meet the 100 -day time period.
I have surveyed surrounding cities and have found that Maplewood and
Shoreview allow a period of one year from the time of approval for
plat and subdivisions to be recorded with the County, while Vadnais
Heights allows six months, and Roseville has no specific time limit.
It is the recommendation of staff that the Code be amended to allow a
six -month time period for the recording of plats and property
divisions with the Ramsey County Recorder once they have been
approved by the City Council.
Page 23
