January 3, 1992
TO: Ray Hanson - Mayor of Little Canada
Bill Blesener - City Council Member
Bev Scalze - City Council Member
Rick Collova - City Council Member
Jim LaVa11e - City Council Member
Joel Hanson - City Administrator
I'm writing because Irm very concerned about Little Canada
merging with Roseville Recreation. I remember a few years
ago when Little Canada wasn't good enough for Roseville -
-
now they want us? (or just the money)?
If Little Canada residents want a Roseville program, they can
register and have their child participate. I think we have
a great program right now, with dedicated people (parents,
teachers and coaches) that are willing to help and share their
time.
I have three kids who have been involved in hockey, gymnastics,
T -ball, baseball, basketball, skating lessons and Super Summer
for the past 6 years and never have had a problem. I can
imagine a typical summer evening getting three kids to ball
games. One will be playing a Spooner Park, one at Edgerton
School and one at County Road B and Cleveland. Would that
be a problem for you?
It's just nice to have our kids play sports with kids they know
from school, church and the neighborhood. If registration fees
have to go up it would be worth every dollar. If property taxes
have to go up I'd be all for it knowing the money was for our
kids.
Before any decision is made, I think Little Canada residents
should be notified or surveyed for their opinion. Bigger is
not always better: I love the smallness and closeness of our
community. A merger would be a major mistake and Little Canada
would be swallowed up and eventually spit out again!
Sincerely,
Page 7
