515 Little Canada Road
(612) 484 -2177
, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
/ FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor & City Council
FROM: Dave Harris, Public Works Superintendent
DATE: April 3, 1992
RE: Agreement with the City of Maplewood
MAYOR
Raymond G. Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim LaValle
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
The City of Maplewood has approached the City of Little
Canada in regards to a 12 inch water main on Roselawn
Avenue. A 12 inch water main was originally installed back
in 1969. The installation of the 12 inch main was the
City's original supply line which at this point in time is
now only used as an emergency back up. In 1977, the City
installed a 24 inch water main which now serves as our main
feed line. Therefore, the need for the 12 inch water main
is only for emergency purposes.
Maplewood wants to enter into an agreement with Little
Canada so that it may connect to the existing 12 inch water
main. In doing so, Maplewood would then take over all said
maintenance on Roselawn Avenue to the portion on the Water
Works property near the railroad tracks where they will
install several valves. At no time should this interrupt
service to the City of Little Canada nor will it interfere
with service in the future. Those valves shall always stay
open so that if Little Canada had an emergency where the 24
inch main was rendered inoperable, we would then be fed off
the 12 inch water main.
At this time, I recommend that the City of Little Canada
enter into the agreement with the City of Maplewood in
regards to the 12 inch water main connection.
DBH:kpv
aae 17
