Section 3. Snowplowing Technique. Snow will be plowed in a
manner suited to minimize any traffic obstructions. The center of
the roadway will be plowed first. The snow will be plowed from left
to right with the discharge going onto the boulevard area of the
street. In times of extreme snowfall, streets will be cleared as
quickly as possible to facilitate the movement of vehicles so that
they may be removed from the roadway and the streets plowed to their
full width.
Section 4. Snow Removal. The Public Works Superintendent will
determine when snow will be removed by truck from an area. Such snow
removal will occur in areas where there is no room on the boulevard
for snow storage and in areas where accumulation of snow creates a
hazardous condition. Snow removal operations will not commence until
all other snowplowing operations have been completed. Snow removal
operations may also be delayed depending on weather conditions,
personnel and budget availability. The snow will be removed and
hauled to a snow storage area. The snow storage area will be located
so as to minimize any hazards to the environment.
Section 5. Priorities. Main arteries and streets where schools
are located shall be the top priority to be cleared. Secondary
streets will be the next cleared along with cul -de -sacs. The Fire
Department, City Hall, and City parking lots shall be cleared along
with the other priority roads. After the residential streets have
been plowed, snowplowing will then commence on park areas, parking
lots and rinks, and lastly trails and sidewalks.
-2-
Page 27
