VOIPI KRAUS- ANDERSON CONSTRUCTION COMPANY ACONTRACTORS & CONSTRUCTION MANAGERS April 27, 1992 Joel Hanson, Administrator CITY OF LITTLE CANADA 515 Little Canada Road Little Canada, MN 55117 Dear Joel: I am writing in an attempt to clear up the matter of Kraus - Anderson's compensation due beyond the original six -month contract. Your memo of March 24 stated that, to your knowledge, "the work scope did not change" and that you therefore couldn't "recommend an additional fee at this time." Allow me to point out the following delays in construction over which Kraus - Anderson had no control. FIRE STATION: Original Schedule: September 1, 1990 to March 1, 1991. 1. A rebid of the Electrical for the Fire Station portion of the project was requested after the local electrician and a member of the Fire Department, had made an error in the bid by omitting the generator system and controls. It was determined by all that the entire section be rebid rather than to simply add this portion of work to the bid. Rebid was requested Sept. 26, 1990, and due Oct. 10, 1990. The delay factor due to the Electrical rebid came into play Sept 28, 1990 when the start of floor masonry was put on hold because load bearing walls could not be constructed until conduit was placed in them.. Full Electrical did not commence until Oct. 15, 1990, and this delay was never made up; in fact, it resulted in nearly a month of work having to be completed during the winter season. This now put project completion at March 22, 1991, a total delay of three weeks.
