April 29, 1992 2
City of Little Canada
2. In October we were being told that delivery of the skylight framing
materials would be during the third week of December. Under the
original schedule these materials were needed by Jan. 7, 1991, but that
date was moved three weeks due to the electrical delay The framing did
not arrive on site, however, until March 15, 1991, a delay of six weeks
from the revised schedule. At this point the earliest possible completion
date had been pushed to April 30, 1991. It should also be noted that
Architect's Field Report #21 indicated a probable completion day of May
1, 1991.
3. Landscaping and irrigation caused still another delay. Final documents
were not submitted to the City Council for approval until May 20, another
delay of three weeks.
CITY HALL:
Construction started for the Addition with the excavation and pouring of
footings by November 6, 1990. We had already completed most of the
new exterior wall and the interior load bearing walls at this time.
Fabrication of wood trusses and delivery had been set for week of
11/15/90. At this point in the project we were approximately two weeks
ahead of schedule. Trusses were scheduled to be erected the week of
12/12/90. Submittal of drawings were 11/5/91, anticipating three day
turn - around from Architect and two weeks fabrication time with delivery
week of 11/19/91. This submittal was returned 11/16/92 to be revised
and resubmitted. 2nd submittal was faxed on 11/16/92. Trusses were
manufactured without certification according to design criteria.
Certification followed. We did everything we' could to expedite this order
and still the trusses did not arrive until week of 12/5/91, three weeks
from when the project was ready. With the revised schedule actual lost
time for trusses was one week from original schedule.
As the Addition progressed, it became ever so clear that the three weeks
of good weather could not be taken advantage of and would be costly to
the project. Although the shingling and flat roof portion were completed
within two weeks of the proposed schedule, the interior concrete and
framing were now approximately four weeks down due to the weather or
finishing rough -in at week 1/11/91. Sheetrock and taping were being
completed in the Addition the week of 2/14/91, three weeks from
anticipated completion. Finishes such as ceilings, carpet, painting were
scheduled for completion in the Addition the week of 2/20/91 on a
rough March 1, 1991 completion schedule.
Page 18
