MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
JUNE 11, 1992
CUP FOR
ADDITIONAL
GARAGE
SPACE
2533
EDGERTON
JIM BENSON
ECONOMIC
Mr. Jim Benson, 2533 Edgerton Street, appeared before
the Commission requesting approval of a Conditional Use
Permit to allow total garage space in excess of 1,000
square feet. Benson reported that the garage space
would be an addition to the back of his existing garage
and would be used for storage and as a hobby area.
Benson reported that he restores antique gas engines.
DeLonais asked the grade of the garage addition.
Benson explained the grade pointing out that it would
be 24 inches below his existing garage since he would
like to retain an existing window on the south side of
his house.
Keis asked about access to and from the garage
addition.
Benson explained that he is proposing a door on the
south side. There would be no driveway to the garage
addition, and the need to bring things into and out of
the garage is very limited.
Garske asked the neighbors' feelings on the proposal.
It was pointed out that there was no one from the
general public present wishing to comment on this
matter. Benson reported that he has discussed the
proposal with his neighbors, who have indicated that
they have no problem with it. Benson stated that if
there were any concerns on the part of the neighbors,
he would address them immediately.
Garske recommended approval of the Conditional Use
Permit to allow total garage space in excess of 1,000
square feet at 2533 Edgerton Street as requested by Mr.
James Benson subject to the recommendations of the City
Planner as contained in his report dated June 4, 1992.
Motion seconded by Keis.
Motion carried 5 - 0.
Pedersen asked the status of the vacant Burger King
DEVELOPMENT building.
DeLonais reported that it was his understanding that
Burger King would not renew the franchise agreement.
Staff indicated that it has been rumored that the
Burger King Corporation will reopen the facility.
The City Planner reported that both the Pizza Hut and
Page 4
