We also feel <br />that the City has sufficient funds to handle our <br />responsibility for the City's share of costs. Therefore, <br />it the recommendation of staff that we initiate the public <br />improvement process on these roadways at this time in order <br />that we may combine these projects with others occurring <br />next year and prepare for their financing. <br />It should also be noted that some other improvements are <br />being contemplated. At Wednesday's meeting, a petition is <br />being presented for some water main on Viking Drive. Staff <br />has also been discussing with the State of Minnesota about <br />an upgrade to the roadway surface on the majority of Viking <br />Drive. Depending upon the outcome of those discussions, it <br />is possible that the City would absorb some costs to have <br />those road surfaces upgraded. Also dependent on that <br />outcome would be the evaluation of utility installation <br />along improved roadway areas. <br />Therefore, we would ask for the authority to proceed with <br />the improvement process on the four roadways identified. <br />JRH:kpv <br />Page 103 <br />
