Hanson, City Administrator DATE: October 9, 1992 RE: Jackson Heights Development Agreement /Cost Participation As you will recall, in approving the Jackson Heights Development Agreement, Staff was directed to finalize negotiations relating to the reconstruction of Jackson Street from LaBore Road to the project site. The proposal reached is that the Developer will be responsible for the total cost of reconstructing that portion of the street including installation of curb and gutter. The Developer is also providing sanitary sewer services to three properties not now served by these facilities. In light of these costs and the costs of providing the street reconstruction, the Developer has asked for $2,000 to offset these costs. I would recommend that we authorize the expenditure of $2,000 from the Water and Sewer Capital Replacement account as consideration for the extension of sewer main to three properties off the project site and for the reconstruction of the roadway off the project site. I believe that this is a cost effective recommendation given the fact that we do not have to deal with assessing the properties in question and that we are receiving approximately one half block of new City street in addition to the extension of sanitary sewer and watermain to areas not now served. (The cost for the street alone could approach $10,000 if the City were to undertake the improvement. At 20 %, we would still be spending $2,000.) If you are in agreement with this, I would like authorization for this expenditure. Page 27
