MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
DECEMBER 10, 1992
practical from a security standpoint. Therefore, they
are requesting the ability to screen with chain -link
fences with slats.
Pedersen pointed out that the City opposed chain -link
fences with slats because of aesthetics. The slats get
broken, and snow plows push against the fences and
damage them.
DeLonais reported that the property owners in Ryan are
trying to get some uniformity and are concerned that a
bunch of wooden fences would be varying heights and
types.
Pedersen felt the same concerns would apply to
chain -link fences.
The Planner also noted that this amendment would apply
to all zoning districts, unless it was specifically
limited to I -1.
DeLonais stated that his thinking was to apply it to
I -1. DeLonais suggested that the Commissioners go down
and look at the Park, and be prepared to discuss this
issue at the January meeting.
COMMUNITY DeLonais reported that the Community Pride Group has
PRIDE been working with the City of Roseville on the issues
COMMITTEE of a street scope and land use along Rice Street,
trying to get uniform sign ordinances, densities,
setbacks, etc. These efforts are being made to try to
improve the image of Rice Street.
BUILDING Carson reported that when contractors obtain building
INSPECTIONS permits, the City only does some building inspections,
and others are not made unless they are requested by
the contractor. If the contractor does not call and
ask for an inspection, the inspections are not made.
Carson reported that this is what he has been told by
the Building Official.
Keis felt that all building inspections should be made,
and some sort of log should be kept and inspections
done regardless of whether they are requested by the
contractors or not.
Drabik agreed, and stated that lack of inspections is
not protecting the citizens of the City. Drabik felt
it would be easy to set up a computer listing to keep
track of inspections that have been done or need to be
done.
Page 6
