I have contacted five of my neighbors, this leaves two more plus Ryan that I haven't
talked to regarding the variance. Of the five I have spoken with, there seems to be
no problem with granting it. I think that if the city were to contact them, they would be
able to grant my request now without making me wait until Christmas to start a
project that should have already have been started.
I am trying to play the game by the rules but it seems the city only wants to enforce
the rules against me not Ryan. I am asking that the city have the planner complete
the request for a variance this time and have it handled by no later than the council
meeting at the end of November. Help me to follow the rules set forth my the city,
but make an exception on the schedule since the city let my original request fall
between the cracks.
With or without a permit I will start my project before winter. The city has set a poor
precedent in making Mr. Ryan remove the excess fill he has added without benefit
of a permit. As such you really do not have cause against me if I do go ahead with
construction without benefit of a permit. You have set a precedent for NOT
enforcing the zoning laws in the neighborhood.
If nothing else, I ask that the city allow me to erect the exterior shell of the addition
before winter sets in. I would then agree to wait on finishing the interior until final
approval of the permits is granted.
Sincerely;
John A.
