Director, Girls Activities MEMORANDUM TO: Little Canada Parks & Recreation Commission FROM: Jim Morelan, Parks & Recreation Director DATE: November 17, 1992 RE: Pioneer Park Scheduling for 1993 The following is my recommendation for the scheduling of the Pioneer Park facility. Please consider it as such and feel free to ask any questions and to express any concerns that you have. My intent regarding the scheduling of the four baseball /softball fields for the 1993 season is approximately the same as 1992. League play Monday through Friday will consist of the following: Monday - Youth softball & baseball Tuesday - Youth softball & baseball Wednesday - Adult women softball Thursday - Adult men softball Friday - Adult men softball Our youth leagues play Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I will assign them to half of those nights. Adults will be scheduled on the other half of those nights plus Friday, when there is no demand for youth play. I do not intend to mix adult and youth play at this complex at the same time. The close proximity of the backstops, player benches and spectator areas to one another does not create a desireable co- existence between youth and adult leagues. There may be isolated exceptions to this during pre- season practice when field demand is the highest. The number of youth teams may expand slightly due to the number of registrants. I do not intend to limit these numbers. I also will work with the two organizations that schedule our youth leagues to try to get more games scheduled at the Pioneer fields on Monday and Tuesday nights. This may impact on the parking and I intend to monitor it and decrease play by revising those schedules mid - season if need be. Page 22
