MINUTES <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />August 2, 2006 <br />Rice Street trail -This connection would present several problems due to traffic. This <br />section is a candidate for a major overhaul due to all of the traffic congestion issues. <br />Demont Pedestrian bridge -This connection would allow residents from each side of the <br />city to access the other. <br />Water Works Right-of--Way -The Commissioners suggested adding a connection on <br />Country Drive to South Owasso and then up to the Water Works Right-of--way. <br />ICE CREAM Steinert stated that the ice cream social is scheduled to begin tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. He asked <br />SOCIAL Commissioners to arrive at Spooner Park's lower shelter a half hour early. <br />OTHER Mans made the following announcements: <br />BUSINESS <br />• A break-in has occurred at Pioneer Park. The Director stated that the building at this park <br />does have an alarm system and is lighted. The police were close to catching the people who <br />did the damage, but have not been successful to date. They are going to step up patrol in <br />this area and they have also put a request into their department to plane an alarm monitoring <br />device at the site. This building has been broken into four times this spring, twice where <br />they actually obtained access. Nothing of real value is stored within this building. <br />• Online registration is underway. Mans signed up for the service and stated that it seemed <br />very easy to use. He asked if the city has received any feedback. The Director stated that <br />this system is fairly new so we have not received much feedback to date. However, the <br />system is getting used by the public. <br />• Registrations are being accepted for adult fall softball. Leagues will beheld on Tuesdays, <br />Wednesdays, and Thursdays for men and on Tuesdays for women. We will have enough <br />teams to proceed with play on all of these nights. <br />• The Old Fire Hall remodeling is nearly completed. The Little Canada Recreation <br />Association paid for replacement of all the appliances including the stove, refrigerator, and <br />microwave at a cost of $2,009. <br />• Several of Little Canada's baseball teams at all different age levels have been very <br />successful this year in league play and two teams won the sportsmanship awards in their age <br />bracket...Tom Holm's 3rd grade team and Ken Wood's 4'~'/5°i grade team.
