After six months of monitoring water usage, the following
conclusions were made:
COST SAVINGS PER HOUSEHOLD
Annual Benefits
$ Saved $ Saved $ Saved
Device Gal. With the money saved by the
reduction in sewer, water and energy (hot water) bills, the three devices will
pay for themselves in only 8.25 months. This is if the homeowner purchases the
devices.
For the Water Utility, less water means fewer chemical and pumping costs. For
these two expenses the Utility would save 11.73 cents per billing unit of water
conserved. Using an annual water use reduction of 22,500 gallons and an
installation cost of $80 per household, the devices would have a payback time of
nearly 23 years. This, however, does not take into account the $690 of lost
revenue to the Utility over those 23 years.
Page 62
_2_
