MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
APRIL 8, 1993
The City Planner also pointed out that the City may
want to look at specific zonings and what is allowed in
those zonings. There may be uses allowed in the
specific zoning districts that the City now feels are
inappropriate. The Planner also pointed out the
Ultimate Golf development on Rice Street which was done
in the middle of a redevelopment area. The Planner
noted that it will cost the City a lot of money to
redevelopment that area and relocate Ultimate Golf if a
redevelopment project comes in.
Drabik felt that everyone wants an updated Comp Plan,
the question is how much can the City afford.
DeLonais did not believe the zoning map would change
too much as a result of updating the Comp Plan.
The Planner replied that this may be true, but the
zoning ordinance might change a lot.
DeLonais felt that the Planning Commission should meet
with the City Council and Community Pride Group and see
what their ideas are.
Drabik stated that she would like the information from
the Planner on redevelopment plan formats so that the
Commission can evaluate it.
DeLonais asked if neighborhood meetings would be held
as they were when the first plan was developed.
The Planner pointed out that in 1978 the City was
divided into planning districts and the City met with
each neighborhood. An update of the Comp Plan is more
a strategy- oriented planning process. The City will
first need to determine its strategy to accomplish the
goals it sets. The Council, Planning Commission,
Community Pride Committee, and Park and Recreation
Commission will need to establish goals, and the
Planner indicated that he would assist in developing
strategies to accomplish those goals.
It was the consensus of the Commission to attend a
workshop with the City Council and Community Pride
Committee to discuss the Comprehensive Plan. It was
noted that the workshop is tentatively scheduled for
Wednesday, April 28th, at 6:00 P.M.
RELEAF DeLonais reported that the City will be delivering
PROGRAM the bare root stock that has been ordered by residents
under the City's Releaf Program on April 17th. Balled
and burlapped stock will be delivered on the 24th.
There is some stock yet available for those interested.
Page 20
Page 11.
