My wife and I have three children ranging in age from four to eight
years.
Mr. Doug Peterson has provided me with a copy of your May 21, 1993, letter to him.
I have reviewed your letter and must take exception with a number of supposed facts set
forth therein. My exception to those facts is based upon my personal observations as well
as those of my wife and other neighbors.
First, the monitoring time presented in your letter is not correct. The observing deputy
was present for no more than forty -five minutes.
Secondly, the sheriff's vehicle was not an "unmarked car ". The vehicle was clearly
marked as being a Ramsey County Sheriff's vehicle.
Thirdly, the positioning of the marked sheriff's vehicle seriously calls into question the
officer's opinion that he "was not observed by any . . . vehicle which would have
impacted [the] results" of his study. I personally observed the location of the sheriff's
vehicle and it could clearly be observed by vehicles approaching the intersection.
Fourthly, your observation that there are no other complaints by area residents is no
longer true. Attached is a petition circulated by Mr. Robert Goeple. I trust this
emphasizes the concerns of many of the area residents.
506 MINNESOTA BUILDING • 46 EAST 411-1 STREET
ST PAUL.
