SENT BY:
3 -26 -93 : 2:37PM : PAIGE DONNELLY LTD. - 6124844338: 3' 3
Page 2
Mr. Joel Hanson
May 26, 1993
Finally, I find it difficult to comprehend the city's logic that those who would not abide
by the laws of this city, county and state, by failing to obey a stop sign that they felt was
improperly placed, would in any way justify Little Canada's decision that a stop sign
should not be placed at the intersection. It is absolutely ludicrous to attempt to justify
such inaction by stating that some people would not stop anyway!
In our opinion your conclusion that a stop sign is not necessary is based upon superficial
and flawed observations. Now that this concern has been raised by residents who have
observed traffic patterns and violations for more than forty-five minutes, it is our hope
that it would not take a needless tragedy to impact upon you and the City the veracity of
our concerns for the safety of our children. Nor, God forbid, if such a tragedy should
occur do we feel that the certain litigation would have been necessary had the City
initially heeded our requests.
The City of Little Canada has already expressed an appreciated concern for the safety of
our children by erecting "Watch for Children" signs at certain locations on Payne and
Allen. We merely ask that the next logical step be taken in the protection of our
children.
We wish to impress upon you our resolve in having this matter adequately addressed by
our representatives. If necessary we will request that this matter be placed on the agenda
for an upcoming council meeting.
As parents it is an inherent drive to ensure the safety of our children. As our
governmental representatives and elected officials we remind you of your duties to
address our legitimate demands. We hope and - ttThr'this matter will be given the
immediate and detailed attention it deserves, also *6 1; you for your time
and efforts we know you will expend on thy issue/
Very truly
rson
TRP
Enclosures
cc: The Honorable Raymond G. Hanson
Mayor of Little Canada
PAGE 101
