'44 t, 2fr414 cXerziteak
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Hanson & City Council Members
FROM: David B. Harris, Public Works Superintendent
DATE: July 9, 1993
RE: Replacement of Toro Mower
MAYOR
Raymond G. Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
The Toro mower we are now using for mowing in the parks is ten years old
and due to the large amount of mowing this year has outlived its
usefulness. We are spending more time making repairs trying to refurbish
this machine to try to keep up with the grass.
In June the City demo'd mowers and called for price quotes for a
replacement for that machine. Neither company is willing to offer
anything in trade on the machine due to its condition and age. It is not
worthwhile for them to take it in trade.
The two machines we demo'd are the Jacobson Turf Cat 4 -wheel drive and a
4 -wheel drive Ground Master. The Jacobson price with tax included is
$13,546.80. The Ground Master came in at $14,239.00. (That was not an
exact figure, it could possibly be higher, but would not be lower.)
At this point I recommend the purchase of the Jacobson Turf Cat 4 -wheel
drive from North Star Turf, Inc. here in Little Canada. The funding for
this purchase would come from the Capital Equipment Fund.
Page 45
