LITTLE CANADA
PARKS AND RECREATION
DEPARTMENT
515 Little Canada Road / Little Canada, MN 55117-1600
Telephone: (612) 484 -2177 / Fax: 484-4538
JIM MORELAN, Director
JACK FITZGERALD, Asst. Director
DIANE HUSAK, Asst. Director, Girls Activities
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor & City Council
FROM: Jim Morelan, Parks & Recreation Director
DATE: June 18, 1993
RE: One and Five Year Plan for Program Expansion
The following is a projected plan for program expansion. I have
received unanimous approval from the Parks and Recreation Commission
on this plan. it projects over a period of five years, from 1993
through 1997. Some of the criteria that went into the make-up of the
plan includes:
1. Discussions with neighboring cities with regard to the
different programs that they have conducted, along with
how successful and well attended they have been.
2. Input from residents that has been received by myself and
the two Assistant Directors.
A large portion of these programs have been initiated by the Parks
and Recreation Department this first year, and much knowledge of the
types of new programs that will be successful has been learned from
this.
You will note that the programs are broken down by both adult and
youth and also by athletic and non - athletic. It should also be noted
that the continuation of, and the implementation of the plan will be
dependent on resources available. These resources may include, but
are not limited to:
1. Participation
2. Facilities
3. Staffing
4. Funding
The Parks and Recreation Department will proceed with this plan with
a proactive attitude, also keeping in mind the alterations that may
be necessary due to various changes in the above resources available
to the City. This plan will be updated annually as a basis for
identifying goals which will be incorporated into the annual budget.
JM:bj
Page 82
