MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
August 12, 1993
landscaping moved to the top of the berm. Kaufman
suggested that someone from the City come out and make
a determination of where the best location for the berm
would be and Slumberland will construct a berm in that
location.
Carson asked the size trees that are required by City
ordinance.
The City Planner replied that evergreens must be a
minimum of 6 feet in height, and deciduous trees must
be a minimum of 2 inches in caliper.
Owen Hyland reported that the trees planted by
Slumberland have not grown a foot in the last two
years. Hyland stated that he wanted to see screening
of the property.
DeLonais again described the plan for continuing the
berm and raising up the landscaping.
Hyland felt that the promises made by Slumberland were
a lot different from reality.
Kaufman suggested that he and Mr. Hyland meet after the
meeting to discuss his concerns. Kaufman stated that,
to his knowledge, Slumberland has addressed all Mr.
Hyland's past concerns.
Garske suggested that Slumberland plant some decent
landscaping and be done with it. Garske did not
believe the existing landscaping was that good. Garske
also suggested that the piles of dirt be removed from
the site.
The Administrative Assistant reported that the City
Administrator has viewed the site and feels it to be
well maintained in comparison with other properties in
the area. The Administrator also has been impressed
with the integrity of the officials he has dealt with
at Slumberland, and feels Slumberland has been a good
corporate citizen of the City.
Knudsen did not believe it would take a lot to clean up
the site.
Keis suggested that the City work with Slumberland on
their landscaping plan.
The City Planner suggested that he and the Building
Official would work with Slumberland to coordinate
,plant materials and location. This is what was done in
the past.
Page 14
