Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
At the Nadeau Park dedication ceremony held last Saturday,
I discussed with some of you the possibility of
constructing a sidewalk along Jackson Street and down Lake
Street to the play structure at Nadeau Park. Since then,
Steve Morelan also talked to me about the need to improve
the pathway along County Road C between Rice Street and
Little Canada Road given its deteriorating condition.
Given these potential projects, it would seem appropriate
that we take a comprehensive look at our pedestrian pathway
system. While we have done a substantial amount of work on
trails associated with our park system, it may be wise to
also take a look at some of the heavy traffic corridors to
ensure that pedestrian safety is being provided for. These
same pathways could possibly be tied into the balance of
the trail system as well.
If the Council feels this idea has merit, we should
authorize the preparation of a master plan in order that we
can budget accordingly from a capital improvement
standpoint. Should you have any comments or questions
regarding this matter, please let me know.
JRH:kpv
cc: Mike Lynch, City Engineer
Bill Sanders, Parks & Recreation Consultant
Jim Morelan, Parks & Recreation Director
Dave Harris, Public Works Superintendent
Page 3
